Il Melges 32 Vitamina Cetilar sesto a Barcellona

The final stage of the Melges 32 World League ended yesterday in Barcelona. This year the important circuit reserved for the Melges 32 one design was time for the return on the water of Vitamina Sailing, the Andrea Lacorte’s team supported by the Cetilar Keep Moving brand, already involved in this class regattas between 2013 and 2017.

Two racing days were completed on Thursday and Friday for a total of 6 races, while on Saturday the fleet remained on ground, at Port Vell, because of the lack of wind.

Helmed by Andrea Lacorte, with as tactician the American champion Jonathan McKee (a gold and a bronze at the Olympic Games, in the FD and 49er classes), Vitamina Cetilar finished the first day scoring 7-3-4, results that put the crew in regatta for the Yacht Club Repubblica Marinara of Pisa in third place in the provisional general ranking. The next day, in conditions of medium wind (between 10 and 13 knots) and a lot of current (up to 2 knots), Vitamina Cetilar scored 12-10-7, losing three positions in the ranking (from third to sixth), ranking that would remain definitive given that the fleet did not race on Saturday.

That’s how the Series came to a wrap, after a start at the end of March in Villasimius, Sardinia, followed by the stages in Puntaldia (also Sardinia), at Riva del Garda and Barcelona. In this international tour that involved 20 boats from 10 nations, the Vitamina Sailing team concluded in eighth place, a good result if we consider the two seasons of absence from the circuit.

The last step of the Melges 32 season is the world class championship scheduled at the end of October (24-27) in Valencia, Spain. Before that, Andrea Lacorte’s team will take part with the Club Swan 50 Vitamina Cetilar at The Nations Trophy (8-12 October) at Palma de Mallorca, the event reserved for boats built by the Nautors Swan shipyard.
