The Super 24 Hours of Le Mans by Cetilar Racing
Four out of four for the Cetilar Racing team. The all-Italian team (the only “all-made in Italy” in the Sport category) dropped the number of editions that ended consecutively in the 24 Hours of Le Mans , the penultimate round of the FIA WEC World Championship is undoubtedly the most important event of the whole season.
A final tenth place in the LMP2 class – perhaps also inspired by the creation of the new racing collection jerseys of the Parma goalkeepers Calcio, which with the team boasts the common sponsor Cetilar ® , dedicated to the livery of Dallara number 47 – represents an extraordinary result for the crew formed by Roberto Lacorte , Giorgio Sernagiotto and Andrea Belicchi , who alternated at the wheel of the Dallara n.47 managed by AF Corse .
An 88th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans (held for the first time in history behind closed doors) extremely regular for the trio of the Cetilar Racing team, who also finished 14th overall out of a total of 59 cars at the start , climbing seven positions compared to the 17th time in the category obtained at the end of a very positive qualifying.
Belicchi, the most experienced driver of the three, crossed the finish line in his eleventh participation in the classic of the La Sarthe circuit, the first in which he had the honor of driving his car in the last driving stint up to to the checkered flag. Conversely, to start the race, at 2.30 pm on Saturday afternoon, it was Sernagiotto, who, like Lacorte, who took him over at the wheel, immediately imposed a good pace that continued without any flaws and without particular problems of kind.
“ Taking the flag for the first time after 11 competed editions was a wonderful emotion. An emotion to which we must add that of seeing people climbing on the walls outside the track to greet us – explained after the arrival a moved Andrea Belicchi – We were all very good, as always, and we certainly deserve even more ”.
“ I drove for about ten hours in total. I am very happy and also honored that the team gave me the opportunity to stay behind the wheel for so long – commented Giorgio Sernagiotto – I pushed hard and made no mistakes . It was my hardest Le Mans ever because the level of competition was very high, with opponents who have been using Orecas for years now and therefore have an extraordinary level of preparation. We, with our “Cinderella”, we still managed to stay in the group. And this in my opinion represents almost a victory. I honestly didn’t expect to finish tenth of LMP2 and fourteenth overall and much of the credit goes to us drivers and to the team that, despite everything, despite overwhelming competition from a technical point of view, we have always believed in it “.
“ I challenge any driver to drive the Dallara as Andrea and Giorgio drive it. We have guys who believe in the project, who are as strong as missiles and who have not been adequately repaid by the vehicle – added Roberto Lacorte – A result, that of today, conquered with a knife between his teeth, with so much effort and sweat, the result of the great work of the whole team and above all of the riders. We were very regular and above all fast. A mix of elements that allowed us to finish once again in the top-10 ”.
The next commitment now for the Cetilar Racing team will be that of the 8 Hours of Bahrain , scheduled for 12, 13 and 14 November , which will close the 2019/2020 world calendar.
