Roberto Lacorte with Enrico Zennaro and Lorenzo Bressani arrived second in Malcesine, in the first leg of the 69F circuit. Fourth place for Flyingnikka 74 (Razeto, De Felice and Fornaro).

The season for Roberto Lacorte’s FlyingNikka team in the Persico 69F ‘flying boats’ has got off to an excellent start: a second and a fourth place, conquered after three intense and spectacular days of foil sailing.

A total of thirteen trials were held over three days on Lake Garda by small, fast and very well-balanced foiling monohulls with regattas that have truly put crews to the test, where Olympic and world champion sailors came through in the lead. The final victory in this Persico 69F Cup  GP 1.2 at Malcesine deservedly goes to the crew of Fantastica 2, with Olympian Nicola Celon at the helm, followed by FlyingNikka47, with Roberto Lacorte at the tiller, flanked by Enrico Zennaro and Lorenzo Bressani, and by Tixwave. Fourth place for FlyingNikka74, the second boat on the team and also competing in the regatta for the Yacht Club Repubblica Marinara di Pisa, helmed by Alessio Razeto with team members Lorenzo de Felice and Andrea Fornaro.

“At Malcesine, we obtained a solid second place, because Nico Celon and his team performed very well and deserved to win. Over these three days, we made a couple of mistakes too many, because despite being consistently fast we made too many avoidable mistakes during manoeuvres,” explained Roberto Lacorte, who no more than 100 days ago stood on the podium at the World Endurance Championships FIA WEC behind the wheel of a Ferrari 488 in the LMGTE-AM category. “We have to work on this so we can avoid silly mistakes which, in the end, compromise all the work we put in. We cannot criticise our speed, boat management and tactics but there is room for improvement in spontaneity and manoeuvring.”

The next appointment with the Persico 69F circuit – the second leg – is scheduled for the middle of July at Porto Cervo, in Sardinia.
