Vitamina Cetilar protagonista allo Swan Tuscany Challenge

Four days of sailing in Tuscany, with Marina di Scarlino serving as base point, for 19 boats split into three categories: this first edition of the Swan Tuscany Challenge, an event organised by the Nautor’s Swan to replace the Rolex Swan Cup of Porto Cervo, cancelled at the end of August, was a great success thanks both to a widespread desire for yachting events and to the quality of the participating teams.

It might be described as the dress rehearsal for the Swan One Design Worlds, scheduled to take place between October 13th-17th at the same location, and which saw Vitamina Cetilar as one of its protagonists.

Andrea Lacorte’s Vitamina Sailing team, racing under the colours of the Repubblica Marinara di Pisa Yacht Club, was participating in their first ever challenge in the new Club Swan 36 category and demonstrated right from the outset all the characteristics of a top class competitor. In fact, out of the seven races run over four days, Vitamina Cetilar, helmed by Lacorte with tactician Alberto Bolzan from Trieste (sitting in for Gabriele Benussi, due to return in mid October), obtained one victory, three second places, two thirds and a fourth, finishing in equal place with Ferragamo’s ThirtySix and Serafini’s Hurakan. A great outcome which finally led to an overall third place, for the least number of partial successes compared to its two direct competitors, and with many, very good feelings about the next championship event, where a much more numerous fleet is expected for Club Swan 36.

Overall, the work of Club Nautico Scalino was excellent as they made every necessary arrangement for COVID-19 risk prevention to make sure athletes from different countries could come and participate in safety, as was that of the Principal Race Officer, Ariane Mainemare, assisted by Carlo Giuliano Tosi.

The next step is Swan One Design Worlds, in one month precisely, again in Tuscany.
