Vitamina Sailing ready for a new season of regattas

A new year and renewed ambitions for the Vitamina Sailing Team, which after some major results in 2021 –from the second place in the Nations League in the Club Swan 36 class to the European success on the M32 catamaran circuit– is now ready to return to the sea for an exciting double challenge. In addition to confirming its presence in the M32 class again with two boats, Vitamina Sailing will be busy in a new campaign that is making the headlines in 2022: the TF35 full foiling catamaran, already christened the Vitamina Volante.

The T-Foiler 35 is a latest-generation monotype multihull designed by a team of expert designers from the America’s Cup and IMOCA 60 teams, that flies through the water at high speeds, offering an unrivalled spectacle in the sailing world. With advanced take-off speeds and an automatic, assisted flight control system, it can navigate in full foiling mode even sailing into the wind, as well as downwind, at maximum speed and full safety.  

Last May, in Nyon on Lake Geneva, the first competition for the class was held with seven teams, including some famous international sailing names of the calibre of Alinghi and Spindrift, in the water for the first regatta on the circuit which during the year also came to Scarlino (Tuscany) in Italy.  

Next year there will be eight crews and Vitamina Sailing, the only Italian team on the starting line, will be taking part in the circuit with a crew captained by Andrea Lacorte, supported by a famous name in international sailing tactics who will soon be officially announced. Five events are planned in Switzerland, France and Italy: Nyon (May), Geneva/Mies (June), Malcesine (September) and Cannes (October).

As well as racing with the new TF35, Vitamina Sailing will also be present on the European M32 catamaran circuit with two boats: Vitamina Rapida, again helmed by Lacorte, and Vitamina Veloce, with Marco Radman at the helm.

After two warm-up events planned for La Spezia (February and March), the M32 calendar includes events in Riva del Garda (May), the Netherlands (June), Marstrand, Sweden (July) then back to Riva del Garda (September, also valid as a European Championship), ahead of the grand finale in Cascais, Portugal, where the World Championship will be held from 3 to 9 October.  

“Last season was great, with lots of satisfaction, we had some major wins but we also grew more as a team and, beyond any results, this is what counts the most,” explains Andrea Lacorte, who this year too can count on the historical members of the team, including Team Manager Matteo de Luca, Leonardo Chiarugi, Diego Battisti and Giovanni Bucarelli. “2022 will be tougher, because we are racing in a new and highly competitive class, but this makes it even more exciting: I like complicated challenges, where we can leave our comfort zone. Vitamina Sailing is a team that wants to improve and grow, so the new TF35 circuit is ideal for testing our ambitions.”
